Status: New base four-cylinder engine, new Sport model and styling updates - The five-passenger XT5 wagon has been a popular model for General Motors' premium division and should remain so for the 2020 model year with a number of physical and content changes. Most obvious is a new front end and grille that places the XT5 on the same styling path as the compact XT4 and the new seven-passenger 2020 XT6. The XT5's interior has also been refreshed with a new rotary controller for the touchscreen, a 15-watt wireless charging system for portable devices, and available night vision that detects moving objects beyond the range of the headlight beams. The revised lineup of Luxury and Premium Luxury trims also includes a new Sport model. It comes with blacked-out exterior bits, sport-tuned suspension and steering and an exclusive all-wheel-drive system that can direct 100 percent of the available engine torque to either rear wheel when turning (called torque vectoring). The powertrain lineup includes a new 237-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine that's standard with the Luxury and Premium Luxury XT5s. The 310-horsepower V-6 is now optional with the Premium Luxury, but standard for the Sport. The engines are linked to new nine-speed automatic transmissions with paddle-shift controls.
