GMC Sierra HD (New)
STATUS: New for 2020 - GMC's 2500- and 3500-series heavy-duty pickups are intended to be hardworking commercial rigs, although some actually become pampered status symbols. For 2020, the GMC HD pickups are new from the ground up, including absolutely huge grilles attached to larger bodies. The usual three cab styles are available, and both 66-inch and 96-inch beds can be had. The new base gasoline 6.6-liter V-8 is rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, which is up from the 360/380 numbers delivered by the previous 6.0-liter V-8. It works through a six-speed automatic transmission. A 10-speed automatic is employed with the returning 6.6-liter turbo-diesel that puts out 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet. Properly equipped, the HD 3500's maximum towing capacity is 35,500 pounds, while the 2500-series max rating is 18,500 pounds. Exclusive to all full-size GMC trucks is the optional power-opening MultiPro tailgate that doubles as a workbench, cargo step, and cargo-securing load stop. The wide assortment of trim levels and content culminate with the Denali, which is literally brimming with over-the-top luxury.
