STATUS: Styling changes for hatchback and Si models - The current Civic lineup has only been around for a short while, but that hasn't stopped Honda from providing regular updates. For the 2020 model year, the Civic hatchback and the sporty Si receive new front and rear designs. The Si should also be a bit snappier when accelerating, owing to a slightly higher (numerically) gear ratio. The range of engines begins with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and an optional turbocharged 1.5 for the base sedan and coupe. The base hatchback gets the turbo. The Si sedan and coupe run with a punchier version of the 1.5, while the Type R hatchback gets a 306-horsepower turbocharged 2.0. The Type R comes with a giant rear wing, roofline "vortex generators" that help reduce drag, and fender-filling 20-inch wheels. If you're unfamiliar with manual transmissions, note that both the Si and Type R come only with six-speed stick shifts.
