STATUS: Unchanged for 2020 - Don't let the cutesy looks fool you; this Jeep can conquer the not-so-beaten paths as well as most foul-weather-related challenges. For the 2019 model year, the Renegade received an updated interior that included a phone holder plus an updated infotainment system. New front- and rear-end trim was also added. What helps make the Renegade off-road capable are the minimal front- and rear-body overhangs that allow it to more easily attack tight spots without getting hung up. There's also plenty of clearance between the tires and the fenders. The Renegade's narrow width does place a premium on elbowroom, but a tall roofline gives the interior a somewhat airy feeling. Base Renegades run with a 177-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while a 180-horsepower non-turbo 2.4-liter four-cylinder is optional. A nine-speed automatic transmission is connected to each powerplant. Front-wheel-drive is standard (all-wheel-drive is optional) for all but the top-line 4x4 Trailhawk trim, which has 20:1 low-range crawl-ratio, unique wheels with all-terrain tires and other off-road goodies.
