Telluride (New)
STATUS: New for 2020 - This full-size utility vehicle borrows its name from a Colorado ski-resort town and is equal in size to the related Hyundai Palisade. Both can hold up to eight people (seven, if you select the optional second-row bucket seats). With a full load, the Telluride can still provide as much cargo capacity as most of its contemporaries, and pull up to 5,000 pounds of trailer weight. The interior eschews any hint of superfluous excess, while the dashboard is elegantly turned out, including the 8.0- or optional 10.3-inch touchscreen perched above the air vents. In back, both rows fold practically flat and the load floor lifts up to reveal a generously proportioned stowage compartment. The sole powerplant is a 3.8-liter V-6 that puts out 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of maximum torque. It's connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The optional all-wheel-drive system - available with all trims - directs 100 percent to the front wheels in Eco or Smart modes, while Comfort and Snow modes split it 80:20 front to rear. For more aggressive driving, the Sport mode split is 65:35. In Lock mode, the system's Downhill Brake Control can be engaged to keep the Telluride moving at a controlled (slow) rate.
