Lexus LC 500
STATUS: Convertible model expected for 2020 - The LC 500 is notable for its exotic looks and luxury accommodations that put some of the more expensive vehicles out there to shame. The sport coupe uses a unique platform that Lexus says is the company's stiffest ever and is highly resistant to bending and twisting forces, which makes the car quieter and more stable/precise while turning. The sports coupe also delivers the performance goods in the form of a 5.0-liter V-8 that puts out 471 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission that directs torque to the rear wheels. Lexus claims the LC can reach 60 mph from a standing start in about 4.5 seconds. That's only a couple of ticks quicker than the LC 500h hybrid version, which uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a conventional four-speed automatic to send a combined 354 horsepower to the rear wheels. The hybrid can also achieve speeds up to 87 mph on battery power. A stunning LC convertible is expected to join the coupe version for the 2020 model year.
