STATUS: TRD model added for 2020 - The Camry underwent major surgery for the 2018 model year, with nearly all the car's bits and pieces produced from fresh molds and stampings. Toyota's designers extended the length and width only slightly, but increased the wheelbase by three inches for greater legroom. The roofline was also lowered slightly as were the seating positions, resulting in a lower center of gravity. The body was attached to a stiffer platform that's 30 percent less prone to twisting, which improves both ride and handling qualities. For the 2020 model year, the Camry literally sports a new TRD (Toyota Racing Development) trim level that includes a sport-tuned suspension, larger brakes, special (louder) exhaust system, black wheels and lower-body aero cladding. The TRD package is available only with the available 301-horsepower V-6. The base engine is a 203-horsepower four-cylinder (206 horsepower in XSE models). For both, an eight-speed automatic transmission transmits torque to the front wheels. The 208-horsepower Camry Hybrid has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a 118-horsepower electric motor.
