Toyota Land Cruiser
Status: Unchanged for 2020- This beefy body-on-frame off-roader will take you practically anywhere you want to go, and an 8,500-pound towing capacity means you can bring your toys along, too. Thrust comes from a 5.7-liter V-8 mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is not the Land Cruiser's strong suit, but for those requiring a large and luxurious off-road hauler, that might not be an issue. Full-time four-wheel-drive with a boulder-crawling low range is standard as is a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System that basically varies the stiffness of the anti-roll bars depending on whether you're lumbering through rush-hour traffic or needing things loosened up for severe off-roading. Other rough-and-tumble technologies include a crawl-control mode that sets the throttle in one of five positions (used when the transfer case of the standard 4x4 system is switched to low range). This allows the driver to focus on the terrain and the activity of driving without having to pay much attention to the throttle. Inside, there are ventilated leather-covered front seats, power sunroof, 14-speaker premium audio system and a floor console with built-in beverage cooler. A rear entertainment system with dual 10-inch screens is also standard.
